Intense Pulsed Light (IPL)

Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) delivers pulses of light in a spectrum of various wavelengths.

Different handpieces attached to the device can provide:

  • “Photo Facials” that effectively clear sun-damaged skin of red and pigmented discolourations
  • IPL Hair Reduction which is effective for dark and some finer hairs
  • Acne Therapy in which light wavelengths effectively destroy acne-causing bacteria
  • High Energy IPL for treatment of rosacea and more intensely vascular and reddened skin

How does it work?

IPL systems work on the same principles as lasers in that light energy is absorbed into particular target cells with colour (chromophores) in the skin. IPL systems are different to lasers in that they deliver many wavelengths in each pulse of light instead of just one wavelength.
IPL therapy is considered a non-ablative resurfacing technique, which means that it targets the lower layers of skin (dermis) without affecting the top layers of skin (epidermis). The advantage of IPL therapy is its minimal downtime – a patient can often have the procedure done on their lunch break and return to work immediately afterwards.

Several treatments may be required for optimum, long-lasting results.

Single session: $200 and IPL series of 4 $600
