Dear Dr. Joannou,
I wanted to take the opportunity to give thanks to a number of your staff for the assistance and support they have provided me in my care and support during physical training, and, in accomplishing a rather significant goal.
As you may know, I am a physically challenged veteran whom among other ailments, suffers from several debilitating physical pains such as Neuralgia, Meralgia, Deafferentation Allydonic Syndrome, Complex Chronic Regional Pain Syndrome and PTSD.
There was a point just over five years ago where unassisted walking for me, even for short distances had become challenging on most days. With the assistance of walking poles and encouragement from within and from caregivers I began to undertake to learn how to walk again and to walk long distances.
Last year, thanks to a grant from Soldier On and after several years of self training and physio therapy, I came to your training location and was taken on by April Shepherd. Her inspiration and amazing coaching drove me to undertake challenges I thought were well beyond my capacity and capability. As you have seen yourself, she has managed to help slowly transform me and I am continue to progress to this day thanks to her professional and personable guidance.
Equally astonishing to me has been the support of your staff and in some cases the personal dedication to my well being and to the accomplishment of what was for me a significant milestone. On 22 September of this year I was able to walk the full length half-marathon of the Canada Army Run in Ottawa. Not only was April instrumental in preparing me for this challenge, but some of your staff even took on the challenge with me.
Ms. Patti Boyde joined my quest very early on and even participated locally with me in my training, including a dry “walk” of the full distance in late June with the rest of my team during what was invariably one of the warmest days of the summer. Her inspiration and encouragement including singing to me during the actual event were amazing to say the least. Through her leadership, we inspired Ms. Colleen Gurnsley, and Ms. Emily Brady to also participate as part of Team Walky Talkys (a.k.a. Team Frank Lrabie) and completing the half-marathon Army Run with us. I truly was inspired, supported and moved to tears by their dedication to my goal.
I have also on the medical spa side had the pleasure of dealing with many of your staff and have benefited greatly of late of the services of Krista Spence. At the request and consultation of April and Patti has taken my case on and provided tremendous relief to me following my big endeavour and again recently during what for me has been stressful and difficult.
I am fortunate in the culture you have created in the work environment for these individuals. Their dedication to their tasks is noticeable at all times and a invariable reason for my personal success in this matter, but clearly an invitation and inspiration to all the clientele they serve every day on your behalf. How fortunate are we to have them there for us.
Your staff to you, and to us, superb providers and souls of inspiration. Please pass on my gratitude to those listed in this letter and to all the remainder of your team for all they do to make
each experience enjoyable and memorable.
