I knew that I needed to change when I walked only 9 holes in a game of golf and was totally exhausted. I had always been able to walk 18, but after fighting cancer and the fatigue that followed the treatments I wasn’t able to do a lot and became even less active and added more weight.
I joined Tay River TNT the week after the golf episode, which is now over a year ago. I began by meeting with Pam for a fitness program for some guidance and at the time my cardio consisted of 4 minutes at level 4 on the elliptical. I saw change in my body but thought that since I was now working out I could still eat whatever I liked.
About 6 months later when my fitness was not progressing like I had hoped, I decided to meet with April for a Nutrition consultation to help me with my eating habits. Though I was surprised to find out that I needed to eat more often to lose weight I gave it a try and soon realized that it worked. I have lost 30lbs since January!
My new lifestyle including both exercise and healthy eating have made me feel so much better and have brought me closer to my fit family. I am now on the elliptical for 30 minutes at level 17. I have more energy and am more relaxed. My dog is much happier since he now gets walked a lot more and a lot longer (even he has lost weight!). My back is better, I am feeling up after the hard road of Cancer and I actually miss working out when I don’t make it to the gym!
